Love fashion? Want to share that love with others? Our BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Communication is aimed at ambitious, creative individuals who are keen to develop a career in fashion styling, image-making and digital media.
As the rise of social media has transformed the way we consume fashion, the industry has opened a plethora of opportunities beyond the fashion designer’s role, in areas such as fashion photography, trend forecasting, styling and art direction, branding and fashion media. You’ll benefit from workshops with industry professionals, collaborations with other students and guest speakers.



I decided to study this course at BNU because of the amazing facilities on offer across the board. Led by our dedicated and supportive course team, you will focus on understanding how fashion can be communicated and promoted creatively through a range of media.
You will develop knowledge, skills and techniques in our industry standard photography and film studios, Mac computer suites, print and fashion workshop spaces. You will also be allocated your own desk space alongside other fashion and textiles courses to encourage and facilitate creative collaboration.

What facilities can I use?
Not only will you be able to benefit from our textiles and fashion workshop, but you’ll also have access to our state-of-the-art, fully-equipped photographic and film studios. Alongside this, you can also rent industry cameras, lights and recording equipment to take out on location to ensure your creative ideas come to life.
As well as these specialist facilities, we also have a range of Mac suits with the latest Adobe Creative software for you to use.
In our workshops, you’ll receive one-to-one teaching, working closely with lecturers, specialist technicians and alongside fellow students.
What will I study?
At the core of the BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion and Communication course you can find creativity, innovative thinking and an exploration of contemporary approaches to the marketing of fashion.
You will learn from specialist tutors through hands-on workshops covering essential fashion industry skills such as: photography (digital and analogue), film, styling, digital design, marketing, trend analysis and social media management.
Combining theory with creative practice, you will be able to develop intellectual, technical and professional skills and knowledge to succeed. This will help you when pursuing a career in a range of fashion industry related roles.




How will I be taught and assessed?
This course is offered as a four-year programme, including an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will allow you to develop your academic study skills and build confidence in your abilities, identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate degree.
As there are links with our BA (Hons) in Fashion Design programme, you'll be able to gain a holistic view of the fashion industry. You will acquire first-hand insight into the fashion process, from original concept to design through to the promotion of the final project. This will help give you the edge in a competitive market.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work on live briefs with fashion industry brands, which will challenge and enhance your skills, knowledge and approaches. Our collaborations with industry will foster professional working practices, further preparing you for employment once you’ve graduated.
You’ll benefit from a close-knit community with your fellow students, as well as great studio-based lecturers from our experienced and specialist team of lecturers who are made up of current industry practitioners and researchers.
By the time you graduate you will have gained a deep understanding of the fashion industry through knowledge of the communication and design process within a historical, social, ethical and cultural context.
From day one, you will be making connections, meaning you’re working on your career the very moment you begin your course.

BNU is a Placements Plus university. So, whatever degree you do, you can be sure there’ll be plenty of industry-relevant opportunities on offer, to help you get into your chosen field.
We’ll also prepare you for work beforehand, with special skills for work training, further boosting your CV, and building skills employers will value. In recognition of the value we place on these skills we have incorporated this experience into your study time.
Placements Plus is all about helping you get some valuable experience under your belt while you’re a student, to increase your choices later, and help you get the graduate-level job you want.

A typical offer will require a UCAS tariff score of: 32 - 56
Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for the 3-year undergraduate programme, or those who do not feel fully prepared for a Level 4 course, will be considered for the 4-year programme including a Foundation Year.
