We understand that the ongoing impact of COVID-19 raises many questions for our University community. We’re answered as many as we can here, and will continue to update these FAQs regularly. Tested positive or experiencing symptoms
You are now are not legally required to self-isolate if you test positive for COVID-19, or if you are a close contact.
However, we support the Government’s guidance that anyone who tests positive is advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for at least five full days and avoid meeting people at higher risk for 10 days after the day you took your test.
Although it will no longer be a legal requirement to notify BNU if you have a positive result, we encourage those who are feeling unwell to inform their course team, stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel better.

If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms COVID-19 try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people, until you no longer have a high temperature (if you had one) or until you no longer feel unwell.

Although face-coverings are no longer required, we ask everyone to be mindful that some members of our community may be feeling anxious about the Government’s removal of restrictions. We understand that some of you may still want to wear a face covering, and your wishes will be respected.
We’re strongly encouraging all students to do their bit to control COVID-19 infection outbreaks and protect themselves, our University community and their loved ones.
Grab a jab by booking an appointment at the government’s website or find your local walk-in clinic. Please get your first, second and booster doses to give you the best protection so you can keep yourself and others safe and well.
Students and staff are no longer expected to do regular asymptomatic testing. The Government has also ended the legal arrangement which permitted universities to issue lateral flow kits to staff and students.
If you are student on a Healthcare/Clinical course, please check with your tutor for any specific guidance on asymptomatic testing for placement.
International Students and Travel
Anyone arriving into the UK needs to follow government guidance on travel, which can vary depending on where you are coming from and your vaccination status, and can change depending on periodic governmental reviews

- If you are a student abroad travelling back to the UK we encourage you to speak to your travel insurer and follow the safer travel guidance for passengers where possible.
- You should check the rules in the country you are travelling from as they may have different covid restrictions and requirements for travel.
