Foundation Year courses

Build your confidence with a foundation year degree.

Start February 2022

Our foundation years offer an alternative route into university and are designed to help prepare you for your degree.

The foundation year acts as an additional year to your degree and, during this time, you will be able to develop your confidence, build your skills, gain an introduction to your chosen degree and get a taste of uni life.

Once you pass your foundation year, you are guaranteed a place onto your chosen course and will enter the first year of the degree programme.

There are many reasons to choose to study a foundation year:
  • not feel ready for your degree
  • not have the right qualifications
  • want to explore a new subject
  • be nervous about returning to study after a break from education.

Whatever your reason, a foundation course could be for you.

Choose from the following career-focused courses

I didn’t feel my skills were ready to go straight into a degree. When I heard about the opportunity for a Foundation Year, I was keen to take advantage of it and get a head start. It’s been one of the best things I’ve done.
