Getting the most out of an open day

Getting the most out of an open day

There will be course sessions running throughout our open day, as well as the opportunity to join tours of our facilities and accommodation. We will email you the schedule of the day a few days before the event, and we’ll also send you details of how to book onto our accommodation tours. We recommend planning your day in advance so that you avoid any potential clashes.

Can I bring someone with me?

Plenty of people attend open days on their own but bringing someone else along for support is a great idea! It can be helpful to have a second opinion, and you can even send them to look at one facility while you are checking out another.

Changing a booking

If you’ve booked but can no longer make it, you can cancel or amend your booking online. You’ll need your booking reference in order to do this, which can be found on your event confirmation email.

Do I have to stay for the whole event?

We understand you may not be able to stay for the whole event so if you can only make it for a session here and a tour there, there’s no need to worry!

Do you have disabled access?

Yes, BNU is a friendly and inclusive environment. If you require assistance or Blue Badge parking, please contact us beforehand so we can enable your visit to run as smoothly as possible.

Food and Drink

We have cafes onsite where you can grab a quick drink and bite to eat, and our town centre location in High Wycombe means we’re surrounded by places offering a bit more if you’re really hungry.

Travel and parking information

Our Undergraduate Open Days are held at our High Wycombe Campus. If you’re taking the train, we’re a short walk through town from the station.

Parking on campus is not usually available for students or guests, however we do open our car parks during our open days. This will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. You can use Gates A, C and D and will not require a parking permit for your visit.

If our campus car parks are full, there is plenty of alternative parking available locally - we advise guests to park at either the Eden Shopping Centre or at The Wycombe Swan Theatre. Both of these car parks are within five minutes walking distance to the campus. There is also a park and ride service that runs locally, with a stop right outside campus.

You may also find our campus information page helpful.

What should I do when I arrive?

When you register for our open day online, you will be sent a unique barcode by email. You’ll need to present this (either electronically or printed) at the Welcome Desk when you arrive. There will be lots of staff and students on campus directing you where to go, so once we’ve signed you in for the event, we’ll let you know what to do next.

What should I expect on the day?

We’ve got course talks, campus tours and accommodation tours lined up, along with advice from our Student Services teams. There’s a lot going on, so we recommend making a list of priorities and having a think about what you may want to ask, for example, what do you need to know about studying here, the application process or how student finance works?

During your visit, try and get acquainted with some of the places you could be spending the next few years. Check out the library, the gym and our Students’ Union, and if you have time after, we’d suggest taking a wander around town to get a proper feel for our local community.

If you want to ask us something before you arrive please call 0330 123 20 23 or email us

We appreciate there’s a lot to cover at our open days, so here are a few frequently asked questions to help you plan. If there’s something you want to know that we’ve not covered here, give us a call on 0330 123 2023 or email us.
