Dr Hanane Abouhakim

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2021, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds School of Chemical and Process Engineering focusing on designing methods and technologies for the process intensification of nuclear effluent in partnership with the national nuclear laboratory. Prior to that I undertook a PhD with the Centre of Doctoral Training, in Complex Particulates, Products and Processing at the University of Leeds. I was working on a research project sponsored by AstraZeneca of which the aim was to develop a methodology to predict the behaviour of different Active Pharmaceuticals Ingredients (APIs) during the process of milling using extensive experimental and computational work.

I studied my PhD at the University of Leeds, and my specialist area of interest/research is Chemical and Process Engineering. It is interesting because this area is very broad and the knowledge gained in this field can be transferred across wide spectrum of industries, technologies, R&D etc.

I am a member of Institute of Chemical Engineering, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology, Royal Society of Chemistry, American Society of Chemist, Society of Chemistry Industry.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with academics, industrials, and business personals across various fields such as AstraZeneca, P&G, Unilever, AM Technology, Qatar Gas, Diamond Light Source, Bessy 2, CCDC etc. on projects such as understanding milling behaviour of different APIs, Water Electrocolescence in oils, Spray drying of detergent powders, development of Automotive Lubricants, Anti-aging Creams and Shampoos of desired characterises etc.

My greatest accolade to date/My career highlight is AICHE World congress on Particle Technology in Orland, Florida, USA where I was awarded as best speaker and poster for my on Understanding the Phase Transition on the surface of Acetaminophen
