MSc Aviation Operations and Management

This course is suited to those who are either interested in moving into the airline industry, for example you may be a recent graduate with a degree from a related programme or may have general management experience. Additionally, you may already be in the aviation sector working for an airline or airport and want to broaden your industry knowledge and management skills with a view to enhancing your career prospects.

To aid your learning, you’ll take part in simulation-based activities to develop team and individual capabilities in the face of challenging scenarios. You’ll also be able to use our library to support your studies, whether you’re looking for the resources you need or just a quiet place to study.

Included in the price of our programme, you will gain student membership status with the Emergency Planning Society, the leading institute for the UK disaster events management, providing you with access to industry articles and research to bolster your understanding.

The course examines both general and specific areas of aviation management with modules including:

• Air Transport Management and Leadership
• Aviation Business
• Globalised Aviation Industry
• Aviation and Organisational Resilience
• Aviation Research Project

This programme will allow you to build the higher-level, career-orientated skills and knowledge that the sector, and you, will need in the coming years. You’ll be exploring and studying aviation in a changed world post Covid-19 and its impact on the management of aviation operations.

Our library is the perfect place to find the resources you need and a quiet place to study, filled with four floors of books, journals, computer suites and study rooms. Or, if you’d rather work off campus, e-Journals and resources are only a few clicks away using our Virtual Learning Environment.

How will I be taught and assessed?

Throughout the course, students will be taught through a series of interactive lectures, seminars, workshops, case studies, presentations, as well as independent and group study.

The course is practice-based, supported by contextual studies, and is structured to allow you to develop autonomous study, where relevant, linked to your own organisation. By adopting self-directed and self-initiated study, you can capitalise on your own activities and experiences.

You will spend a total of ten weeks’ full time at our High Wycombe campus, split into two week blocks for each of the five modules. This face-to-face learning helps to build your analytical capabilities, confidence and knowledge by engaging with those whose business it is to make aviation operations management successful in the most challenging circumstances.
