The National Student Survey (NSS) gathers opinions from students about their time in higher education, asking them to provide honest feedback on what it has been like to study on their course at their institution. It is an influential source of public information about higher education and gives students a powerful collective voice to help shape the future of their course and their institution for current and prospective students.

The NSS asks 27 questions, relating to eight aspects of the student experience. Students also have the opportunity to tell us where things are going well or where they can be improved in an open-ended question.

The next NSS survey is open and we will be donating £1 to the SU RAG charities,  The Julius Little Foundation and Florence Nightingale Hospice, for every survey filled in.

But we value your feedback at any time and you can take a look at how your 2020 feedback has been acted on here.

You can tell us what you love, or want to be improved, anytime outside of surveys like the NSS by:

• speaking to you course/personal tutors, course reps or elected sabbatical offers;
• attending Union Council meeting;
• visiting bucksstudentsunion.org/union/feedback; or
• emailing the University direct at speaktous@bucks.ac.uk

NSS 2020 Results

Buckinghamshire New University is a Top 20 UK university, averaged across 27 questions in the 2020 National Student Survey (NSS). The survey of final-year students across the UK also saw our Students' Union appear in the Top 3.

The NSS asked students to rate their satisfaction across areas including quality of teaching, academic support offered, assessment and if their opinions were heard and listened to.
